President and Chief Investment Manager
Jon has been providing investment guidance and consultation for clients regarding all facets of their financial lives for the past 20 years. Jon progressed from the offices of Jessup, Josephthal and Quick & Reilly in Denver / Boulder Colorado to become the area manager of a six-state Midwest region for Quick & Reilly. Today he holds the title of Founder and President of Buttonwood Financial Group in Kansas City. During his career, Jon has worked with over 45,000 individual clients and has been the supervising manager for over $1 Billion in client assets.
Jon and his wife, Wendy, maintain their involvement in the Kansas City community through a variety of charitable efforts. In their free time, Jon and Wendy can be found on the trail with their horses, hosting a Buttonwood Art Space exhibit, or enjoying dinner and jazz at one of KC’s great venues. .
Vince has worked in the finance industry for 14+ years, and has focused his expertise on investment services and investment analysis for individuals, families, and retirement plan sponsors.
Vince’s large array of expertise extends outside of the office to the Rugby field. A veteran of the Kansas City Blues, Vince has supported the nationally recognized Kansas City rugby team in countless victories over 15 years - as illustrated in this June 2007 article - and continues to support the club as a retired player and part-time assistant coach. Vince, with his wife, Jessica, and their sons, Nico and Mateo, live in Parkville and enjoy community activities in the arts and athletics.
Frank began his career in the financial services industry in 1980 as a multi-lines insurance agent. He then became owner of one of the nation's largest independent life insurance managing general agencies. Missing the direct client contact and wanting to do more than sell insurance, Frank advanced his expertise in financial planning and investment portfolio management by becoming a Certified Financial Planner® in order to be able to provide well-rounded financial planning advice.
Frank has given years of service and leadership to Boy Scouts, professional associations, Sierra Club and church committees. Frank and his wife, Margaret, have two grown children. They enjoy Kansas City's arts scene, travel, yoga, fly fishing and just about anything that involves family or friends.
John began his career in the financial services industry at an early age as a bank teller while in high school. John worked his way through college and into a first career while working at the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City Omaha Branch beginning in 1983 and transferring to the Kansas City head office in 1991. Enjoying the study of investments he decided to enter the world of financial advising over 6 years ago and has found great personal satisfaction working closely with clients and helping them to achieve their financial goals.
John spends his free time cycling and hiking with his wife Katherine in spring, summer and fall, and ice skating in the winter. He enjoys participating in his son’s school and church activities, as well as in a variety of local Kansas City events.
Wealth Management Strategist
Mitchell graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor of Science in Personal Financial Planning. After multiple internships and banking experience, he began his career with LaBrunerie Financial in Columbia. His passion for client service in the wealth management industry fits well with his role in assisting our advisors and operations team for clients. He also assists with managing client connections, data integrity and updates to Buttonwood Wealth Management Solution (BWMS) Financial Planning Tool.
Mitchell currently lives in the Waldo area of Kansas City with his significant other, Brooke. Their lives revolve around their golden retriever, Leo. They spend time cheering for their alma mater, Missouri Tigers, along with the Chiefs and Royals. Mitchell also enjoys spending time with family and friends in his hometown of Marceline, MO.
Director of Operations
Brent graduated from the University of Central Missouri with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, where he majored in Accounting and minored in Finance. He later returned to his alma mater and received an MBA in Ethical Strategic Leadership. Brent began his career overseeing endowments, foundations, and pension plan portfolios at State Street Bank & Trust. Developing passions for the wealth management industry soon led him to Schwab Performance Technologies, where he began working closely with Registered Investment Advisors. During his time at Schwab, Brent gained industry experience in portfolio management, client relationship management, and investment platforms.
Brent currently lives in Lee's Summit with his wife, Abby, and their three children. In his free time he enjoys playing golf and spending time with his family at community events, outdoor activities, or a casual night in. Brent also has a passion for music and enjoys playing the alto saxophone recreationally.
Client Services Specialist
Jeff graduated from Morningside College with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration/Economics. Jeff has worked in the mutual fund industry for almost 15 years, beginning his career pricing defined contribution plans for large companies at State Street Bank & Trust. Prior to joining Buttonwood Financial Group, he spent the majority of his investment career at Waddell & Reed Investment Management Company, evaluating/analyzing mutual fund performance as a Senior Performance Analyst, later transitioning to the marketing side of the business via their Ivy Funds subsidiary.
Jeff currently resides in Overland Park, spending his free time with his two daughters and navigating their various activities. He enjoys afternoon golf outings, spending time with friends and exploring the infinite hidden gems of Kansas City.
Portfolio Technical Specialist
Chris graduated from Texas Christian University with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, where he majored in Finance. He began his career working in the customer service industry developing his skills for the wealth management industry. For nine years, working at Schwab, he built client relationships with Registered Investment Advisors. Chris gained industry experience in client relationship management, portfolio management, and investment platforms.
Chris lives in Kansas City with his wife, Jenny, and their two children. In his free time he enjoys playing golf, fishing, and skiing. He loves to travel and participates in a variety of Kansas City events as well as church activities. One of Chris' biggest passion is to root for his alma mater, TCU, along with rooting for the Dallas Cowboys.
Wendy has worked on the front lines of the financial industry for over 15 years. During her last few years of college at University Missouri, Kansas City she started in the financial industry working at her mother’s company Dominick & Dominick. Wendy soon expanded her resume to include positions at Smith Barney Harris Upham, Piper Jaffray, Paine Webber and finally Merrill Lynch.
Her passions and hobbies have always involved the magical world of quadrupeds - mainly horses, dogs and cats. Over the years she has helped volunteer her time at various 501(c)3 organizations such as the Heartland Therapeutic Riding School, the Kansas City Dressage Society, United Plantation and Pleasure Horse Association, Kansas City Regional Foxtrotter Horse Association and her alma mater UMKC Jazz Friends. Wendy's favorite past-time is loading up her boxer, “Poppy”, and going on camping trips with her husband and horses - whether it’s a weekend trail ride or horse show!
Client Relations Manager
Linda has been involved in the financial industry for more than 30 years. After receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the Kansas City Art Institute she went on to complete business and finance courses through the University of Missouri Kansas City. Linda began her career with Merrill Lynch and quickly advanced to registered sales associate. Linda found that she loves the challenging and fast-paced environment of the financial industry and enjoys meeting and assisting our clients.
Linda is a longtime resident of the Kansas City area and lives in Crestwood with her husband Peter and many "pet children". She is involved with a number of organizations supporting lost or abandoned pets and training therapy dogs. In her free time she enjoys painting, gardening, fishing, and spending time at a cabin in Southeast Missouri.
