President and Chief Investment Manager
Jon has been providing investment guidance and consultation for clients regarding all facets of their financial lives for the past 20 years. Jon progressed from the offices of Jessup, Josephthal and Quick & Reilly in Denver / Boulder Colorado to become the area manager of a six-state Midwest region for Quick & Reilly. Today he holds the title of Founder and President of Buttonwood Financial Group in Kansas City. During his career, Jon has worked with over 45,000 individual clients and has been the supervising manager for over $1 Billion in client assets.
Jon and his wife, Wendy, maintain their involvement in the Kansas City community through a variety of charitable efforts. In their free time, Jon and Wendy can be found on the trail with their horses, hosting a Buttonwood Art Space exhibit, or enjoying dinner and jazz at one of KC’s great venues. .
Vince has worked in the finance industry for 14+ years, and has focused his expertise on investment services and investment analysis for individuals, families, and retirement plan sponsors.
Vince’s large array of expertise extends outside of the office to the Rugby field. A veteran of the Kansas City Blues, Vince has supported the nationally recognized Kansas City rugby team in countless victories over 15 years - as illustrated in this June 2007 article - and continues to support the club as a retired player and part-time assistant coach. Vince, with his wife, Jessica, and their sons, Nico and Mateo, live in Parkville and enjoy community activities in the arts and athletics.
Frank began his career in the financial services industry in 1980 as a multi-lines insurance agent. He then became owner of one of the nation's largest independent life insurance managing general agencies. Missing the direct client contact and wanting to do more than sell insurance, Frank advanced his expertise in financial planning and investment portfolio management by becoming a Certified Financial Planner® in order to be able to provide well-rounded financial planning advice.
Frank has given years of service and leadership to Boy Scouts, professional associations, Sierra Club and church committees. Frank and his wife, Margaret, have two grown children. They enjoy Kansas City's arts scene, travel, yoga, fly fishing and just about anything that involves family or friends.
John began his career in the financial services industry at an early age as a bank teller while in high school. John worked his way through college and into a first career while working at the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City Omaha Branch beginning in 1983 and transferring to the Kansas City head office in 1991. Enjoying the study of investments he decided to enter the world of financial advising over 6 years ago and has found great personal satisfaction working closely with clients and helping them to achieve their financial goals.
John spends his free time cycling and hiking with his wife Katherine in spring, summer and fall, and ice skating in the winter. He enjoys participating in his son’s school and church activities, as well as in a variety of local Kansas City events.
Wealth management strategist
An Economics Graduate from the University of Missouri at Kansas City, Matt focused on Economic Modeling and Analysis. Matt has experience working in both the investment and insurance arenas through his early career with Raymond James and Northwestern Mutual.
We are glad to have Matt assisting both our advisors and operations team as we design and implement Wealth Management Solutions for clients. Matt also assists with managing client connections, data integrity and updates for our Buttonwood Wealth Management Solution (BWMS) Financial Planning Tool.
Matt is married to Kelcey, an English teacher at Rosedale Middle School. They live with in Overland Park with their two dogs, Beverly and Lincoln. They enjoy running, music, and friends. They aspire to become more involved in the community and to support the arts in alignment with Buttonwood’s charitable ongoings.
Portfolio Technical sPecialist
Brent graduated from the University of Central Missouri with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, where he majored in Accounting and minored in Finance. He began his career overseeing endowments, foundations, and pension plan portfolios at State Street Bank & Trust. Developing passions for the wealth management industry soon lead him to Schwab Performance Technologies, where he began working closely with Registered Investment Advisors. During his time at Schwab, Brent gained industry experience in portfolio management, client relationship management, and investment platforms.
Brent currently lives in Lee’s Summit with his wife Abby, and their three children. Brent is pursuing his Master’s degree through the University of Central Missouri. In his free time he enjoys playing golf and spending time with his family at community events, outdoor activities, or a casual night in. Brent also has a passion for music and enjoys playing the alto saxophone recreationally.
Wendy has worked on the front lines of the financial industry for over 15 years. During her last few years of college at University Missouri, Kansas City she started in the financial industry working at her mother’s company Dominick & Dominick. Wendy soon expanded her resume to include positions at Smith Barney Harris Upham, Piper Jaffray, Paine Webber and finally Merrill Lynch.
Her passions and hobbies have always involved the magical world of quadrupeds - mainly horses, dogs and cats. Over the years she has helped volunteer her time at various 501(c)3 organizations such as the Heartland Therapeutic Riding School, the Kansas City Dressage Society, United Plantation and Pleasure Horse Association, Kansas City Regional Foxtrotter Horse Association and her alma mater UMKC Jazz Friends. Wendy's favorite past-time is loading up her boxer, “Poppy”, and going on camping trips with her husband and horses - whether it’s a weekend trail ride or horse show!
Bill got his start in the financial services industry in 1999 at Prudential. Bill is involved in all aspects of the day-to-day back office operations for Buttonwood Financial Group. His responsibilities include customer support, cash management and coordinating administrative duties. Bill also provides oversight with client files, data, paperwork, cost basis, etc. Bill’s invaluable organizational skills and efficiencies enable the team to invest more time directly interacting clients allowing for increased customized service and assistance every day.
Bill is married with four children and resides in Olathe, Kansas. Bill and his wife, Greta, support local organizations including Unbound, The Knights of Columbus and the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas. Bill enjoys music very much, and plays with a couple of local rock bands in his spare time.
Business Manager - Buttonwood Financial & Art Space
Kathy contributes a variety of skills and experiences to the Buttonwood team. She joined after a varied career in banking, law, utility, telecom and construction environments in technical systems positions, accounting, financial analysis and customer service roles. Kathy manages our social media and marketing, computer systems and databases along with managing shows and gallery operations at Buttonwood Art Space.
Kathy and husband, Danny, live in Prairie Village with their Austalian Shepherd, Iggy. They share six grown children and nine grand-children. As an artist herself, Kathy is involved in several art organizations, legislative issues and what spare time can be found is devoted to painting and promoting the arts.
Client Relations Manager
Linda has been involved in the financial industry for more than 30 years. After receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the Kansas City Art Institute she went on to complete business and finance courses through the University of Missouri Kansas City. Linda began her career with Merrill Lynch and quickly advanced to registered sales associate. Linda found that she loves the challenging and fast-paced environment of the financial industry and enjoys meeting and assisting our clients.
Linda is a longtime resident of the Kansas City area and lives in Crestwood with her husband Peter and many "pet children". She is involved with a number of organizations supporting lost or abandoned pets and training therapy dogs. In her free time she enjoys painting, gardening, fishing, and spending time at a cabin in Southeast Missouri.
